A band needs strong roots; this is especially so for the Toads. When we look for a big tree to lean against in hard times, Barry Wiseman (aka 'The Band Curmudgeon') is there with his thumping, reassuring bass lines. Also, his paternal demeanor helps to keep us in check and on our best behavior (no stealing silverware when the big man's in the room).
